A Europe-wide ban on Russian oil would threaten the future of the German refinery

This oil refinery in eastern Germany supplies Berlin with gasoline and kerosene to the city’s airport.

But its future is in doubt in Brussels’ attempt to ban Russian oil imports.

The PCK refinery, located in Schwedt near the Polish border, is owned by the Russian energy company Rosneft.

It means that if and when EU sanctions come into effect, this part of Germany could suffer, both in terms of jobs and gasoline shortages.
