“Boris gave some bad advice and then made some really bad decisions,” the tennis legend told the Sky News show.

“And now he’s paying the highest price you can. I just hope he’s fine and then he’ll come out fine on the other side.

“My heart goes out to him and his family. He has made some really bad mistakes and is paying dearly for it. “

“Should have been smarter”

Navratilova added that it wasn’t Becker’s fault as much as his advisors’, but “he should have been smarter than that.”

“He didn’t hurt anyone. He was just trying to save his property, but that obviously doesn’t justify avoiding taxes, etc.

“As tennis players, we depend on other people to tell us what’s right, what’s wrong, lawyers, (accountants), etc.

“I’ve gotten some really bad advice over the years, nothing illegal, but I’ve lost a lot of money because you depend on these people to do their jobs so you can do yours.

“Not to excuse what Boris did. Once again, he’s paying dearly and I just hope his family survives intact and especially Boris because he’s really tough. “

last month, fallen tennis champion found guilty of four counts under UK insolvency law and canceled by another 20 counts.
