A 90-year-old Victorian woman died after contracting both the flu and the coronavirus, nicknamed “flurona”.
The unvaccinated woman died in January and was one of six people in the state to contract both diseases.
All other cases were under the age of 65 and were vaccinated.
The Victoria Department of Health urged people to make sure all their jabs were up to date before flu season.
“By vaccinating against both highly contagious infections, you are not only protecting yourself and those around you, but you are also helping to ease the pressure on our healthcare system,” a spokesperson said.
And there’s more.
