Kim Cattrall has a “Sex And The City” reunion, but that’s not what you think

Kim Cattrall reunited with a number of her “Sex and city“Colleagues this week – although they may not be what some fans were hoping for.

The actor was awarded a Variety’s 2022 Power of Women event in New York on Thursday, and happily posed for photos with Darren Star, who created the original “Sex and the City” series for HBO, and show costume designer Patricia Field. The trio is joined by author Candace Bushnell, who in 1996 wrote the book and newspaper column on which “SATC” was based.

Cattrall played Samantha Jones in all six seasons of “Sex and the City” and in two feature films. She is famous renounced of a third film in 2016 in between reports of a feud with co-star Sarah Jessica Parker, who played Carrie Bradshaw.

She has no involvement with HBO Max’s “Sex and the City” revival, “And Just Like That …”, although Samantha’s character is referenced through several episodes.

It should be noted that Bushnell, Field, and Star also did not participate in the follow-up series.

Although Cattrall didn’t mention “Sex and the City” by name, it seemed to allude to her controversial exit from the franchise. in his speech at Thursday’s event

“I want to share with you something that has been a huge help to me over the years in navigating my personal life and managing a career in all kinds of situations”, he told the crowd. “It’s simple, but at the same time it’s very complicated. It’s a word, and the word is: ‘No.’ ”

He then paraphrased a sentence from an interview with the Guardian in 2019 which has been widely interpreted as referring to her decision not to reprise the character of Samantha: “No, I don’t want to be in a situation for a moment that isn’t pleasant.”

These days, Cattrall has been busy with other projects, including roles at Hulu’s. “How I met your father“and the next Peacock”Queer as Folk“reboot. His remarks at Thursday’s event followed a cover story by Variety in which he first shared his thoughts on “That’s right …”.

Admitting that she hadn’t seen the new series, she still said she would “come to the conclusion that the biggest compliment I could get as an actor is to be missed.”

“I think the original show is really great, but that was a different time”, she explained. “It’s powerful to say no.”
