Major League Baseball said it is settling a complaint from minor league players over “poverty” betting, avoiding a trial with hundreds of millions of dollars up for grabs that could have tarnished the league’s reputation.
Lawyers from both sides in the long-standing litigation said in a court filing Tuesday that they have reached an interim settlement, but they need until July 11 to file a request for approval of the settlement. Terms of the deal were not disclosed in the filing.
