NBA News 2022: Ben Simmons breaks silence after back surgery with a spicy tweet

After Ben Simmons underwent major back disc surgery, the Aussie basketball player shared a spicy tweet aimed at his critics.

The grim saga of Ben Simmons continued this week when he underwent major back disc surgery, though the Brooklyn Nets say he’ll be back for training camp.

The team defined the surgery as a “microdiscectomy,” which took place in Los Angeles at Cedars-Sinai Marina Del Rey Hospital, the New York post relationships.

The procedure was performed by Dr. Robert Watkins IV, and the Nets said after three weeks of recovery, Simmons will begin a rehabilitation program.

Even if he comes back for the retreat at the end of September, the new surgery will keep him away from the basketball courtwhere he hasn’t been competitive for some time.

Simmons hasn’t played a real NBA game since June 2021: although he did participate in Nets training, he never performed in a five-on-five scrimmage.

Traded to the Nets in February in a package for James Harden, Simmons never got dressed: first dealing with ongoing mental health issues, then back pain.

The fury around Simmons exploded when the Brooklyn were wiped out 4-0 in their first-round playoff series against Boston last month – a huge disappointment for a team with superstars like Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

Simmons was targeted after failing to dress for Game 4 against the Celtics, having targeted that match as a comeback.

The Australian was training with the aim of getting back into action, but on the morning of the match he woke up with a bad back and sat outside as his team’s season ended early.

NBA players and pundits dumped on Simmons for sitting outside. American sports journalist Stephen A. Smith delivered the most brutal blow, saying that Simmons “might as well be the weakest and most pathetic excuse for a professional athlete we’ve ever seen not just in American history, but in sports history.”

“I remember that despite not playing, he still filed a lawsuit to raise $ 20 million (from the 76ers) that he didn’t earn. This is one of the most pathetic situations he has ever seen in my life, ”said Smith.

“He will not go to war, he will not enter the Octagon (UFC), he will not go to the ring. She is pulling her teeth to get this man to play basketball.

“It’s pathetic, it’s sad.”

On Friday, Simmons’ Twitter account retweeted a video asking Smith and other NBA pundits to apologize to the Australian.

The deal further demonstrates that the Nets suffered damage to the merchandise in the deal with Simmons. However, the 76ers aren’t skyrocketing with Harden, who didn’t turn his game up in the second round series against the Heat, with Philadelphia trailing 2-0.

Nets president Sean Marks and manager Steve Nash have not addressed the media since the Nets were swept away by the Celtics, 4-0, in an embarrassing first-round flop.
