Orlando Pirates supporters have to respect me

When prominent South African football supporter and Royal AM supporter Joy “Mama-Joy” Chauke went to the Orlando Pirates game against Chippa United at Orlando Stadium, she just wanted to have fun and sing along with the fans, but it turned out that be a different story.

The former “super fan” of the Pirates, who switched his allegiance to Royal AM before the season started, was booed by supporters of the Bucs, as they sang a song about her calling her a “liar”.

“I was shocked when I went to the Pirates game and was booed by the other supporters. It was the first time I experienced this, being that person who gets booed. Normally, what happens is that the fans will boo the players, but I, I don’t know what I did to get booed by the Pirates supporters, ”said the distressed Mama-Joy.

“I’m still in shock and don’t know what to say. But what they did is not acceptable. They must respect me and understand that I have chosen Royal AM. And I always go to the stadium because since we are facing this virus (Covid-19), when you are vaccinated you can attend any match you want.

“I never thought going to Orlando Stadium would whistle at me, but I joined them when they sang Mama Joy or the menemene (Mom-Joy you are a liar). I was there to sing and dance with the supporters. I attended the Mamelodi Sundowns game when they were playing at the Caf and I was not booed. And some said they love me and want me to come back (to Pirates), but now I’m a Royal AM supporter.

Chauke says that Pirates fans must accept her decision that she is now a supporter of Twihli Thwahla and must respect her as a football fan who loves going to stadiums.
